Six-Month Prophy
A six-month prophy is a standard dental cleaning aimed at maintaining oral health. It is a preventive measure that removes plaque, stain and tartar which can reduce the risk of cavities and gum disease.
Full Mouth Debridement
If it has been several years since your last visit, a full mouth debridement may be required. This intensive cleaning removes excessive tartar and plaque to allow for a better assessment of your oral health.
Scaling and Root Planing
This “deep cleaning” procedure is used to treat gum disease (periodontitis) and targets tartar (calculus) buildup below the gumline. Through a series of appointments, buildup will be removed while using local anesthetics and sedation if necessary. Following your scaling and root planing you will be placed on a periodontal maintenance recall to help manage your periodontal disease.

- Initial Examination: Dental technology will identify areas needing treatment.
- Sedation: To ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure.
- Dental Scaling: Removal of plaque and calculus above and below the gums.
- Root Planing: Smooths the root surfaces by removing calculus to promote healing.
Post-Procedure Care:
Patients may experience slight discomfort, for which we provide care instructions and may recommend over-the-counter medications and ice to minimize swelling and pain.
